Confirmation Preparation starting in 8th Grade
Holy Family will be opening Confirmation Preparation starting in 8th grade through senior year in high school. After much thought, prayer and discussion, Holy Family Parish will be inviting 8th graders to register for Confirmation starting this school year. This is a great privilege and one that was a topic of conversation with Father Rodel, Pastor and Krisi Christensen, youth minister over this past year.
Some see confirmation as a sign of mature commitment to the church, but Holy Family makes the distinction that it is a gift, not something to be earned, and it is not a graduation from religious education or church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that, “Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace, and that baptismal grace doesn’t need ratification to become effective.” Confirmation gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross. So many young people are facing more challenges at a younger age and Confirmation gives them strong gifts of grace at this time of life.
This is a pivotal time when they need the Church to be present because they’re going through so much change and transition and questioning. This is a time they need the power of the Holy Spirit and the strength of their peers and parish community to keep them strong in the faith and engaged in the life of the Church for the rest of their lives.

Kathy Harvey, one of the residents of the Holy Family Home, will be moving into a studio apartment this coming week. Please keep her in your prayers as she makes this transition. She is very grateful for all that Holy Family has provided her with, especially your warm hospitality.
Kathy will be needing everything again—furnishings for her new living space, so if you have any household items for a small studio, she would greatly appreciate it.
Some of needs would be a twin bed, bedding, a sofa, a recliner, small table and chairs, vacuum, broom/dustpan, etc.
Kitchen items—dishes, mugs, glasses, silverware, a couple of pans, a few utensils, a coffee maker, kitchen towels, cleaning supplies, etc.
Please contact Kathy if you have and of these items you would like to share. 503-766-7253
Holy Family is pleased to provide a free Formed subscription to our parishioners. It's like Netflix for Catholics!
